You might be familiar with the 10-40 Window but have you heard about the 4-14 Window?  About 85% of Christians across the world began to follow Jesus between the ages of 4 and 14.  With 2.2 billion children in the world, BCM International has made this strategic 4-14 Window the central focus of its ministry since beginning as the Bible Club Movement in 1936.  All around the world BCM is committed to partnering with local churches and other like-minded organisations to disciple children in God’s Word.

We believe that training is vitally important to those who teach the Bible to children and our desire is to serve the church by helping to provide practical and Biblical training.  Workshops are conducted by experienced children’s workers and can be arranged at venues around the country.  We currently have three courses we can offer.

BCM’s teacher training course In Step with the Master Teacher was developed with input from national children’s workers in more than 20 countries.  Practical, Bible-centred, and relevant across cultural boundaries, this exciting teacher-training programme is a wonderful tool for preparing and training teachers to disciple children as Jesus made disciples: by modelling God’s truth, by building relationships, by teaching for response, and by using time effectively.  To date, it has been used to train teachers in more than 25 countries around the world.

WHAT WE DO

ISMT offers up to 22 hours of Biblical, linked teacher training sessions full of creative and practical ideas that can be used regardless of the location, size, or budget of any children’s ministry.  The course looks at our own relationship with God, our relationship with the children we teach, preparing a Bible lesson, and putting a programme together  - all focused around the aim of helping children come to know, love and obey God.  We can customise workshops to meet the specific needs of your teachers within the time you have available.

An ISMT Basic Certificate will be issued to all trainees completing the four core modules of the course.  Advanced Certificates are available to those who complete at least 16 modules and practice teaching.  If you would be interested in having an ISMT trainer come to your church, please send us your details and one of our trainers will contact you to discuss our training options.

If you are responsible for providing training in your organisation or throughout a particular area of the UK, talk to us about becoming a registered ISMT trainer.

In conjunction with Awana and Celebrate Kids, BCM International has developed a four hour workshop which is suitable for parents, grandparents, children’s workers, ministers, church volunteers, and anyone who wants to learn how to share the gospel Biblically and simply with children.  It can be run over a couple of evenings or on a Saturday.

To book a SCwK workshop, please contact our office.

Puppets are great to use in children’s ministry, family services and all sorts of church events so why not book us to run a puppet workshop in your area?  Each trainee will be helped to make their own large puppet which they can take away with them at the end of the workshop.  They will also receive training in how to use it.  These workshops normally run on a Friday evening and all-day Saturday.

In order to provide training to all who desire it, we keep our costs as low as possible.  Our charge for ISMT and SCWK one-day workshops is £10 per person (group rates are available – contact us for more details).  Each trainee will receive a workbook and resource ideas.  If our trainers have to travel long distances we would appreciate an extra contribution from your church towards their travel expenses.

The cost of the Puppet Workshops is £25 per person.  This covers the cost of the materials for making the puppet as well as a workbook for each trainee.  Again we would appreciate a contribution towards our trainers’ travel expenses, if possible.

We are concerned about the spiritual needs of children and want to help schools contribute to their pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.  To this end we offer the following:

Collective Worship/Assemblies

Through Bible stories, songs and visuals we can lead high quality collective worship/assemblies on a variety of suitable themes.

Lunch-time and After-school Bible Clubs

In our lunch-time and after-school clubs children learn about the Bible in an exciting and fun way through stories, quizzes, songs, games and craft activities.

Religious Education

We can provide Bible-college trained teachers to help schools teach their pupils about the Christian faith and the Bible.

Our services are offered free of charge.

Please note that these facilities are only offered in the following areas: Somerset; the greater Lisburn/Belfast areas and surrounding districts; and West Central Scotland but we may be able to put you in contact with other organisations in your area providing a similar service.

As experienced schools’ workers we can also offer advice and training to churches on starting clubs or taking collective worship in their local schools.  Please contact us with any questions you may have.

Other Bible Clubs are held in churches, community centres, and estates.  BCM Clubs include clear Bible teaching supported by effective (and fun!) review quizzes and focussed games, activities and songs.  If your church would like advice and/or assistance in running a Bible Club, please contact us.  See our regional websites for more specific details on the clubs each area runs.

From the wild beauty of Ireland’s seashore to the lush tropics of India, Peru or the Caribbean; from the mountains and rural farmlands of North America to a secluded European retreat; BCM Christian camping programmes now reach over 25,000 children each year in 25 different countries.  While teaching the Word of God is top priority, camps also offer exciting and fun-filled sports activities, crafts, music and the exploration of God’s amazing creation – all in a loving, Christian family environment.

Here in the UK, BCM has been running Bible Club Camps and weekends for children and teenagers for almost 50 years.  Camp is an excellent way to communicate Christian values and lifestyle whilst having lots of fun and meeting new friends.  Our camps are run by highly experienced and trained workers and we conform to all current legislation across the UK.  At present we run camps in Northern Ireland (at our own camp and conference centre: Mullartown House), Scotland and England.  If you are interested in joining the staff team or coming as a camper on any of the UK camps please contact us to get more details.  For further information, check out our regional websites.

BCM produces a range of teaching materials to help you teach the Bible visually and consecutively.   To date these materials have been translated into more than 25 languages such as Swahili, Bangala, Hindi, Burmese, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian and Bulgarian, with new languages being added each year.

Footsteps of Faith is a course of 8 volumes taking children through the entire Bible.  The material is undated and contains enough lessons to take you through a four-year programme.  It emphasises consecutive teaching and Bible memorisation.

Visual CD-roms which link with each volume are available for purchase. Resource CD-roms with extra activities and teaching aids are also available for most of the volumes.

Tiny Steps of Faith is a four volume course of lessons and materials for pre-school children.

To order (and to see our entire range of publications) visit our International Ministry Resources Centre online or contact the UK Office for a catalogue.

Some of our Scottish workers are also involved in ministry amongst adults: providing training in inductive Bible study; counselling people who are hurting because of past or present problems; and running Ladies’ weekend conferences.
